I guess it wasn't all a waste, the networking skills I learned building private servers helped me get my job.
Projects which I am currently involved with, either actively developing or supporting
Shards of Eternity
EOEngine
Endless Memories
Endless Quest Writer
Years of server development leads to many many projects, some good and some... not so much
My journey through the chaos that is the Endless Online community
When EOSource was first released I learned quest writing using the EOSource quest writing tool. My OCD lead me to building my own servers where I learned all things vps hosting, domain managment, web development and game development (story writing, stat balancing, etc..).
A lack of community artists lead me to pixel art, where I'll admit.. I suck at. With the community moving to discord I learned a number of programming languages to build custom discord bots and alerts.
Had a break, got married, then divorced lol.. Came back to the community and worked on projects like BEO, Endless Online Original, Trippies EO, Ever Endless (reboot).. Went back to FE and attempted to create some linere order to that mess of a server, left again due to disagreements in game development.
Worked on a number of servers which were never released, no point telling you about them.. you'll never get to see them. Now I work on projects here and there, and do my best to support the community through tools.
<3 Will probably be playing EO 30 years from now..
Do you play the Recharged version of Endless Online?
Short answer is no.. Ironically I found that actually playing endless grinding games is boring lol.
Why did you shutdown EODash?
The data needed to run the leaderboard was removed from public view, so with no purpose I decided to end the site. There are already plenty of great guides out there for players, there would be no point to converting the site into something similar.
You worked on FE alot, should I give it a try?
Hahahahahahaha fuck no.
What do you do for EOEngine?
Not a whole lot, I run their website and can answer questions about the different features. But I have nothing to do with the feature implimentation or 'code' aspects of it.
Why don't you run your own server?
Because it's a shit ton of work, and anyone wanting to host their own server should learn that pretty quickly. For every 10+ hours of work put in you get back roughly 1 hour of actual gameplay, and for the most part you do it alone until players come along. Typically getting help doesn't come until people are playing your server.
How can I improve my mapping?
Like any skill, practice. But if you want tips: Copy the world around you. If you go on a hike in a forest, is the trail straight? No? Then why the fuck are you mapping straight paths..
